Thoughts for the day.

7 October 2013 - Thoughts for the day.

Can't believe that I am still alive in 2013.  I remember years ago thinking if I made it to the year 2000, it would be a miracle.  However, now that I am here, there are some really wonderful things about growing old.

1.  Grandchildren - Don't we just love them so much.  They are that second chance we wished for at times as we raised our own.  They love us in spite of all the wrinkles, having to repeat things more than once, and the eyes that don't see as well as they used to.  And oh, how we do love them.  More than they will ever know.  Of course, we love our children that way too.

2.  Discounts at restaurants.  What hurts is when they don't even ask, just automatically give us the discount.  Ouch.

3.  Some days can just be lazy, dazy and no one knows or cares.  If we want a siesta in the afternoon, that is just fine too.  Now if we could just convince the phone not to ring during the period of time.

4.  The other day I got a "survey" call.  It was regarding heating and cooling.  After asking for my age group, I found out that I wasn't needed there anymore either.  WHAT?  Do they think I don't use air conditioning any more.  And I definitely will be needing heating since it seems that I am always cold.

Today we went to the doctor for our yearly checkup.  I am beginning to think that I am going to out live my doctor.  I don't know how old he is, but he is getting kind of feeble.  Don said that he kind of shuffled into the exam room.  We like him so much that it makes it hard to think about changing doctors.  It does appear that all is well in the Glasgow household tho, in spite of time speeding by.

However, I do miss the times when my home was always buzzing and exciting things happening all the time.  Kids coming and going and that "Mom" call, that even to this day I turn around in a store when I hear "Mom".  Wonder if that will ever go away.

I hope that I can be good about writing in this blog.  I kind of missed the one that I did while we were on our mission.  Maybe this will be fun.
